According to LG Display, the displays were used at the Young Collector’s Council (YCC) Party to show a video of different photo frames, providing guests with background visuals for their photos. The screens were all 55 inches in size and had a 40% transparency — a potentially perfect size and opacity for a home living room. According to Deadline (opens in new tab), Million Dollar Island was in the casting phase when NBC decided to pull the plug. The reason was reportedly the show’s big budget. Million Dollar Island was described as a “high-stakes social experiment.” Based on a Dutch format, it sends 100 contestants to a remote island for up to 50 days. Compare that to Survivor, which typically has about 20 players and runs for 39 days or fewer....

The remake will be produced by Michael Bay while Patrick Hughes, most well known for directing The Expendables 3 and The Hitman’s Bodyguard, has been earmarked for the director’s gig. The reimagining will switch the location to Philadpehia’s “drug-infested Badlands” and will see “an elite undercover DEA task force climb a ladder of cartel informants to catch an elusive kingpin.” The Raid was originally released in 2011 and has become something of a cult classic since....

Last month Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that the Apple Watch 8 could feature a body temperature tracker — the first new health sensor for the device since blood oxygen tracking arrived with the Apple Watch 6. Now, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is casting some doubt on the Apple Watch 8 body temperature sensor. It may still be planned for the next-gen Apple Watch launch, Kuo said, but it depends on the company getting the algorithm accurate enough — something Apple struggled with for the Apple Watch 7....

First off, the Galaxy S23 Plus will allegeldy feature a 4,700 mAh battery, which would be a minor increase over the Galaxy S22 Plus’ 4,500 mAh. However, that’s still not quite as large as the Galaxy S21 Plus’ 4,800 mAh battery, the peak battery capacity for the mid-sized Galaxy S model. The Galaxy S23 Ultra’s battery is also tipped in this report, with a capacity of 5,000 mAh. That’s the same as the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which we expected but are glad to see backed up anyway....

The apparently removed Geekbench 5 result (via SamMobile (opens in new tab)) is for a Samsung phone with model number SM-916U, the believed internal reference code for the Galaxy S23 Plus. What’s more, the results are similar to a previously spotted Geekbench entry allegedly for the standard Galaxy S23 which makes both look more reliable. There is a bit of a score difference between the two though. The single-core score for the potential S23 is higher, while the multi-core score for the alleged S23 Plus is higher....
